Proper old pub serving great Sam Smiths beer. Clearly has a good cellar because I've never had a pint that wasn't at the absolute perfect temperature.Atmosphere and staff are really friendly. Never seen any nonsense going on.Food is very, very good and great value for money.It's the only place in the centre of Newport worth visiting. Everything else is pure rubbish by comparison.
Very friendly bar staff and great choice of beers. Newport's oldest pub and it retains the character. Great place to go on a Saturday night if you want to avoid loud music and rowdy drunks!
The Murenger is an oasis of calm with a friendly welcome. The oldest pub in Newport and the best. Great original features, excellent beers and ciders and fantastic home cooked food. Good value. They have a loyal clientele. My daughter was based in Newport for 3 years at Uni and it holds a special place in her heart. My mother hates pubs but loves the Murenger! Wish I did not live 450 miles away as I only get to visit once a year when visiting family. Never disappoints.
