Fantastic little coffee shop. Gorgeous interior, friendly, helpful staff. Lovely on warm summer evenings sat outside by the river, or cwtched up on winter evenings inside in the warm decor. Dog friendly too! Decent prices, cant complain, fairly averagely priced for a coffee shop, and one held to such a high standard youd expect a higher price tag. No pressure with ridiculously fancy coffee menus, but a good wide selection for connoisseurs or just the quick coffee dates. Highly recommend, lovely vibe, straight out of a romance novel! Loyalty card system isnt the only thing that keeps me returning thats for sure. 5/5
Great place to relax with good coffee. Open some evenings when others are closed. Nice seating outside with views of the River Usk and university. Friendly staff. Toilets at ground floor level suitable for disabled. Phone USB sockets provided in parts. Dogs welcome. It's good to sit on the comfortable sofas and watch the cyclists speeding over the river bridge scattering pedestrians. Sometimes someone will arrive who can play the grand piano that is provided for customers to tinkle on.Update Jan 19.Often come here on a Thursday evening after work when a guitarist entertains. Nice toast but ask for real butter. Also like the pizza.

I discovered this little gem of a coffee shop a few weeks ago whilst out and about with my girlfriend in the centre of Newport. What drew me to enter was the sight of a number of cyclists partaking of coffee and cakes. As a keen cyclist I am well aware the riders love coffee and cakes and only the best will do...We were not disappointed, the cappuccino was silky smooth and the cakes are to die for...for me the banana loaf won hands down :) This is now a regular spot on our trips to and from the centre of Newport. Add to this an attentive and polite staff then only a 5 star review will do...Well done Hortons!
